About us

Guide Dogs Tasmania provides Guide, Therapy and Companion Dogs to Tasmanians living with disability. These amazing dogs change people’s lives, by giving them independence, mobility, safety and companionship.

With offices in Hobart and Launceston, our Instructors and Specialists travel throughout the state to work with clients. Through the continued support of generous donors, Guide Dogs Tasmania (prev. Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania) has been developing skills, optimising choices and creating possibilities for Tasmanians for over 60 years.

Guide Dogs Tasmania is a member of Guide Dogs Australia and the International Guide Dog Federation.

Guide Dogs Tasmania is operated by VisAbility.

VisAbility has provided innovative, life-changing services to people living with disabilities for more than 100 years. Our professional therapy and support services assist people across a range of ages and disabilities in their homes, at school, at work and in the community.

We are helping to shape a world where people with disability have the same right to participate, the same range of options, the same level of freedom and the same control over their day to day life as any other person. It’s an exciting world to be part of. To be leading.

Our long-term commitment is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live the life they choose. To ensure no-one slips through the cracks.
