In November 2014, Guide Dogs Tasmania staff participated in a workshop on Organisational Values. Organisational values shape the culture of an organisation and define its character. Values should guide how organisations, and people within organisations, engage with each other and within their community. Values provide an important perspective from which decisions are made.
At GDT, our values define how we deliver on our mission. A strong set of values will provide us with the following advantages:
- Support and guide Board and Management decision making.
- Inform our clients and the public about how we will behave and how we expect others to behave.
- Act as primary recruiting and retention tools. We want to work with people who are invested in our values and invested in ensuring that GDT delivers on these values in the Tasmanian community.
The values chosen by our staff reflect the ethical priorities they place on how we go about our business. They are:
Over the coming months our staff will be working together to define and add structure to these values. We look forward to sharing the outcome of this process with our stakeholders.
