Puppy Love Summer 2016 , or, how many people does it take to do a photo shot with just two puppies?
In the Summer ’16 edition of Puppy Love, we meet Benji and Billie. For their photo shoot with the ever-patient, magic-making Kirsty Pilkington, we needed a bunch of people to wrangle, place, plead and chase these two little bundles of energy. The people were exhausted at the end of it, but the pups looked like they could go again! Still, the outcome was pretty amazing.
Also in this issue:
- We reflect on the very first Guide Dogs Tasmania Graduation Ceremony
- We put a call out for Tasmanians interested in applying for Companion or Therapy Dogs
- And we catch up on the training dogs and pups with their latest pupdates.
Enjoy, thank you for your suppawt, and see you in 2017.
What better way to welcome in Spring than with two new gorgeous pups! A boy and girl from the K litter in South Australia arrived on the coldest day of the year and instantly melted our hearts. The wonderful staff of Government House, where we held our photo shoot, also took a shine to the beautiful pups and each managed at least one cuddle. How lucky we were to be given access to the grandeur of Government House so Kirsty Pilkington could once again ‘make magic’ with her camera. Many thanks go to David Owen and the team for this opportunity.
We are very pleased to welcome Harper and Harvey, who feature in Winter’s Puppy Love. Little Harper is named after the great author Harper Lee and Harvey is very, very handsome indeed. They are settling in to their Puppy Raising homes in Launceston and Hobart and enjoying themselves no end.
This edition also features a wrap up of our International Guide Dog Day 2016 activities. 27 April was a BIG day. As big as a brand new Metro bus completely wrapped in 269 artworks of students from Campbell Street Primary School advocating that Guide Dogs are allowed anywhere!
International Guide Dog Day 2016 also marked the official opening of the Guide Dogs Garden of Memories; a very moving place to honour the lives of passed Guide Dogs. What a beautiful day.
It’s graduation time and we take time to focus on Pepper and her Puppy Raiser, who together, have helped each other get through the last couple of years. They did it, and are as pleased as punch with themselves. We celebrate the milestone for Pepper and her training buddies, Yuri and Yoda, with their own special photo shoot with the amazing Kirsty Pilkington.
Also in this edition we introduce a couple of fantastic community projects launching in April, and catch up on all the fun adventures of the P’s, J’s, A’s, and Riley, Nelson, Olly and Taylor.
