Guide Dog pup, Harry
Guide Dog pup Harry arrived in Tasmania in July 2018 from New Zealand with his sister Harmony. A happy boy, Harry has settled in well with his Puppy Raising family in the south of Tasmania and enjoying all the exciting adventures he gets to go on with them. Shopping does seem to take a little longer with Harry around though!
Just to bring you all up to date, I came to board at a house in Montrose a month ago, and I liked it so much that I decided to stay!
I have been so busy with many visits to the local shopping centre and a morning at my Puppy Raiser’s grandchildren’s athletic carnival and swimming school. The shopping centre has an escalator and I nearly have that under control.
Our shopping takes a lot longer as we have to explain to small children and their parents that as a Guide Dog in Training, when I am out and about with my bright orange coat on, they have to understand that I am working and really haven’t got time to chat (although I looovvvve pats when my coat IS off!)
I had a very exciting morning in a small dinghy recently, while the grandchildren went kayaking. However, my Puppy Raiser’s didn’t seem to appreciate my coaching advice, so I was keen to jump out of the dinghy and go for a swim.
I love walking and get to go out most days, sometimes with my coat on, and sometimes with my coat off. I walk proudly, but do get a little excited when I meet other dogs and just want to play with them.
I love gardening (especially weeding) but I’m still learning the difference between flowers and weeds. I’ll get there eventually! I sleep all night, but really look forward to my tucker on time at 6am and 6pm religiously.
I am pleased to say that I am now well behaved in the home of my new Puppy Raisers.
