Ambassador Program gets a boost
Guide Dogs Tasmania is thrilled to announce a new donation from the Fairbrother Foundation will provide sufficient funds to support the locally run Ambassador Dog Program for the next five years.
Guide Dogs Tasmania is the only organisation in the state to raise and train Guide Dogs for people who are blind or vision impaired, and the Ambassador Dog Program is a major part of its fundraising efforts.
“Our Ambassador Dog, Dexter, goes out with a staff member several times during the week, spreading the word about the varied services that we provide, educating people about Guide Dogs, and raising funds to allow us to continue training them,” Melanie Spunt, Relationships and Partnerships Coordinator for Guide Dogs Tasmania said.
“Dexter really is the face of the organisation; visiting schools, community groups and workplaces, and being seen at all our public events during the year.”
Through the Fairbrother Foundation, an annual donation of $2,250 will be given for the next five years, sufficient to cover the costs associated with Dexter, the Ambassador Dog.
