Cake A Palooza

23 August at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$25

Do you love cake? Do you love fun? Do you love Guide Dogs? Then friend… we’ve got an afternoon for you.

Inspired by one of our incredible Volunteer Puppy Raisers, Varcha, we have teamed up with Lumina Studio and Honey Child’s Creole to bring you a dog-themed Cake-a-Palooza in support of Guide Dogs Tasmania.

Join us for a fun-filled day of delicious cake, community connection and four-legged friends as we raise vital funds to support the training of future Guide Dogs. Throughout the event, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the life-changing work of our Volunteer Puppy Raisers and the important role they play in preparing Guide Dogs for their future partners.

Whether you’re a dog lover, a cake enthusiast, or simply looking to support a great cause, we’d love to see you there!

Here’s how it works:

  • Bring a cake decorated in a dog theme — homemade or store-bought, (we don’t judge, we just eat)
  • One by one, the cakes will appear. Observe. Appreciate. Strategise your slice.
  • Plan your first slice wisely — everyone chooses just one to begin
  • First, we enjoy one glorious slice with tea, coffee, chats and laughter
  • Meet our Puppy Raisers and the current Puppies in Training
  • Buy a Raffle Ticket, tickets will be available on the day for an array of incredible prizes valued up to $200.
  • Then… it’s time to fill your take-home cake box (yes, we provide it!) with whatever treats catch your eye
  • No judging, no pressure — just good vibes and great cake

Cake-a-Palooza is here. Come hungry, leave happy. Meet some Guide Dog puppies in training.

Meet the people behind Cake A Palooza!

Picture of Toni Rands, Owner of Tasmanian Small Business Honey ChildToni Rands – Honey Child’s Creole

Toni Rands is the owner of Honey Child’s Creole, where she is dedicated to showcasing the foodways, traditions and delicious bounty of her heritage. She curates and delivers bespoke menus using local, seasonal ingredients, with every dish made in small batches using fresh, natural ingredients. Through her food, Toni strives to tell the unvarnished truth of the foods and people who created and inspired these unique menus, while celebrating those committed to culinary excellence in all its multi-generational forms.

For Toni, one of the greatest privileges of running Honey Child’s Creole is being able to use her moral compass to guide the business and support causes that matter. She believes Guide Dogs provides dignity, safety and independence to people in the community who need an extra set of eyes, and is honoured to help create a day of joy and connection that enriches lives.

Nina – Lumina

Lumina is more than a studio; it’s a place where people step away from their screens, make something with their hands, share ideas, meet new people and leave feeling inspired. Nina believes creativity is contagious, and that communities grow stronger when we create space for people to make, collaborate and belong. That’s what she’s building—one conversation, one workshop and one wildly creative idea at a time.
